Getting naked..

“Writing is one socially acceptable form of getting naked in public.”

- Paulo Coelho -

I started writing my (Polish) decoupage blog in June 2011. To be honest, I've never thought that some day I’d have started the one in English.I remember that in the very beginning it was complicated enough for me towrite anything in my mother tongue. So any other languages were, somehow, beyond my imagination. For the last two and a half years of writting I got used to ‘getting naked’ in public. ;) I think it’s the right time to try something new, more challenging perhaps. Plus, all my English-speaking friends tell me that I should definitely have some Eldanii Decoupage website in English. Sooooo here it is :)

I think I’d like to give you some picture of what was going on since it all began. So I’ll start my posting with this kind of a summary.

There were times that I got busy with some decoupage jewellery like earrings, bracelets, chaplet, pendants etc.. for it was quite easy and quick to be made, not very expensive either. It seemed to be a perfect space to start with and practice.

So here are just some of those…

Of course you're welcome to look for some more photos - on my original blog

The beginnings and DIY..

"Love is something you can't describe like the look of a rose..
the smell of the rain..
or the feeling of forever..”

Hello :) I'm Eldanii.

I'm addicted to quotes and chocolate.. ;)
Some would also say Decoupage is my middle name.

My interest in decoupage raised some time at the end of 2010.
I can't remember how it all began but what I can tell for sure, is that since the first time I saw a decoupagemade box my love has only grown.

My first decoupage handicraft came into existence almost 6 months after I started my enquiries as to what it is and how it's all done.
It was Arcadius Mauritz'es jewellery box..

Well, apparently there's the right time for every thing in our lives :)
.. at least in my case

So, what is this decoupage?

Basically, decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects and so on. Each layer is sealed with varnishes until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work.
The origin of decoupage is thought to be East Siberian tomb art. From Siberia, the practice came to China, and by the 12th century, cut out paper was being used to decorate lanterns, windows, boxes and other objects. In the 17th century it appeared in Italy. and France - getting through the trade links and that's how the cut out paper decorations made their way into Europe.

Decoupage is a fun and smart way to decorate just about any object, including household items from small vases to large pieces of furniture. The possibilities are endless, as are the techniques used by decoupage creators.

And here's one of my old posts about DIY decoupage..

Unforunately, it's in Polish but I'm sure you can get the general idea :)

As to my first post in English, that would be all, ladies and gentelmen.
Thank you for visiting Eldanii Decoupage.
Please, feel free to come by any time :)
